Masters Games 2017

The 10th biennial Lismore Workers Masters Games will be held (Friday to Sunday) on 22 | 23 | 24 SEPTEMBER 2017.

This exciting event will draw competitors from the New South Wales catchment area extending from Tweed Heads in the north, Port Macquarie in the south, and west to Tamworth and Glen Innes. In keeping with other Masters Games, there is a strong likelihood that competitors will also be enticed from other areas such as South-East Queensland and from south of New South Wales.

The Lismore Masters Games will once again be organised under the auspices of the Lismore Events Unit with approximately 250 volunteers from the local sporting population who hold position as Sports Conveners, officials, marshals, collators and administrators – thank you Lismore!

welcome

MATHEW BARLOW
Chairperson of the Organising Committee

On behalf of the Organising Committee, the Sports Conveners and the many valuable volunteers, I would like to welcome all competitors to the 10th Lismore Workers Masters Games. It only seems like yesterday that the Masters Games concept was established back in 1997!

The committee is focused on continually improving the sport and the festivities that surround such an iconic event on the Lismore calendar. We want to see more people enjoying more fun, more food and more friendships during the tenth games!

To those who have come from outside the region we hope that you enjoy our beautiful City and surrounding North Coast area and enjoy great competition in our excellent sporting facilities. For all the local competitors, we know that we will enjoy the company of our visitors for three days and show them what makes these Games and the Northern Rivers so special. I’d also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the work of the Sport’s Conveners and volunteers and thank them for the excellent job they do in making our Games the undoubted success it is.

CR ISAAC SMITH
Mayor of Lismore

It is my great pleasure to welcome local, regional and interstate visitors to our city for the 10th Lismore Workers Masters Games!

Lismore has always been the sporting centre of the Northern Rivers, and we pride ourselves on offering high-quality sporting facilities and venues that we hope you enjoy during your stay. The Lismore Workers Masters Games is one of the biggest events on our sporting calendar and it is something our city is very proud of. Not only do the Games encourage active lifestyles and community participation, but also great social interaction and the building of lifelong friendships.

I would like to welcome back regular Master Game’s attendees, wish you all the best in your sports and hope that you enjoy reconnecting with fellow team-mates and friends. I hope that new attendees of the Games get to experience the sportsmanship that has made this such a successful and enduring event, and I know that you will soon become part of the Masters Games family.

Last but certainly not least, the Masters Games would simply not be possible without the dedication and commitment of our organising committee and huge team of volunteers. Thank you for the time, effort and love you put in to make our Masters Games a wonderful event. To all competitors from all sports, a hearty welcome to Lismore and best of luck in the 10th Lismore Workers Masters Games!

MR THOMAS GEORGE MP
Patron & Member for Lismore

As a patron of the 10th Lismore Workers Masters Games it is with pleasure that I invite you to participate in this regional premier event representing 14 sports.

Whilst these Games are based in Lismore they provide the opportunity to enjoy what is truly the best part of Australia by visiting our hidden secrets; our hinterland, the macadamia, tea tree and beef cattle industries, aboriginal culture and the beach resorts. You cannot miss the chance to visit this unique area. The social functions organised will again reinforce the atmosphere of our Games.

I look forward to joining you.
